This study explores the lived experiences of Sudanese mothers in Portsmouth, an asylum seeker dispersal area, through their everyday acts of mapping the city. Using ethnographic fieldwork, it explores how these women navigate urban spaces to create a sense of belonging, while also confronting barriers that limit their mobility and visibility. Their maps reveal the potential for place-making and the structural forces that constrain their lives.
